How Can We Help?
Difference Between User Supporter and Trusted UserDifference Between User Supporter and Trusted User
What
A Personal user can be supported in two different ways: from a centrally managed approach, using the User supporter role or from and an individual approach, the Trusted user. Knowing the difference will be explained here.
How
User supporter:
- This is a dedicated role that can be added to any User, typically from local support unit or library staff.
- The user role must be configured to have all the roles that match those of the user who needs support. This includes Personal users as well.
- When this is in place the Supporter user can switch to all users with a matching set of roles.
Trusted user:
- You can allow another Pure user to manage information in Pure on your behalf by adding them as trusted user. This is done individually be going to your username in the top right corner and select Trusted user.
- A trusted user can take control of your user account, and can perform all of the tasks that you can in Pure, except for taking control of other user accounts where you are a trusted user. Every action taken by this user is logged in Audit.
- Remember to remove the trusted user once you do not need this anymore.
Detailed examples:
If Person A is a trusted user for Person B, and Person B is only a Personal User, then when Person A switches user to Person B they have the same possibilities/rights as Person B. Meaning that when the person is only a personal user, then it is not possible to edit Research output - like adding or removing one as an author. If Person B is already an author of the Research Output, then Person A can disclaim content, and Person A can also create new content on Person B's behalf with Person B as an author.
The same goes if you switch user to a user, which only has the role Editor of Research Output for some specific organisations (Person A), then when switching user to this Person A, you can only do what they can do. Meaning I cannot add that Person as an author, since they are not a Personal User with a Person in Pure, but I can act as an Editor of Research Output for those organisations.
Regarding getting notifications, this depends on what actions are taken. When switching User to Person A, then removing Person B from a Research Output, which then resulted in Person B getting an email about being removed from it.
If Person A switching to Person B, adding a new Research Output with Person B as an author, then Person B does not receive any notifications, but can of course see it the new output, when logging in. But when Person A disclaims an article when having switched user to Person B, then Person B can see, that Person B has asked to be removed from that article, but does not get a notification.
So Person B does not really get other notifications, than the user would normally, when doing things on his/her own.
